Born of parents hailing from Bengal, Mayuri was named so by her grandfather for her dancing. Her parents discovered her vocal talent when she was 5. By the age of 7 she was receiving formal training in Hindustani classical at Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Delhi and was already a recognized talent amongst local program organizers.
A resident of Dallas area, Mayuri has performed at many concerts across North America, engaging her audience with popular songs from Bollywood. Formally trained in Hindustani classical music, Mayuri has performed with Indian playback singers from Bollywood, covering a wide genre of songs - ranging from immortal numbers by Asha and Lata to recent blockbuster Bollywood songs.
She continues to be guided by playback singer from Mumbai, Shurjo Bhattacharya and also coaches young talents in developing their skills in light music.
